Contactors (also known as solenoids) are used to connect and disconnect main battery buss power. When it is time to turn your vehicle on or off, the contactor will engage or disengage the power at the flip of a switch. This is very use full in an emergency situation when main power needs to be turned off quickly and easily. It is highly recommended that an appropriate pre-charge resistor and a contactor coil suppression diode be used with any contactor system.
