Contactors (also known as solenoids) are used to connect and disconnect main battery buss power. When it is time to turn your vehicle on or off, the contactor will engage or disengage the power at the flip of a switch. This is very usefull in an emergency situation when main power needs to be turned off quickly and easily.
Alltrax controllers: If using an Alltrax controller, the contactor coil Voltage must match the nominal Voltage of your battery pack. It is highly recommended that an appropriate pre-charge resistor (included) and a coil spike suppression diode (included) be used with the contactor.
PG Drives Sigmadrive controllers: If using a Sigmadrive controller, the contactor coil Voltage must match the nominal Voltage of your battery pack. It is highly recommended that an appropriate pre-charge resistor (included) be used with the contactor. A coil spike suppression diode is not necessary, so it is not included with Sigmadrive kits.
Sevcon controllers: At any nominal battery pack Voltage, Sevcon controllers use a 24V contactor by default. Pre-charge resistor and coil spike suppression diode are not necessary, so they are not included with Sevcon kits.
